Hi friends! 👋🏻

🤔 So you’ve played a fingerstyle or chord melody arrangement that you’ve found online or by supporting your fav ukulele player, but how exactly do they arrange songs for chord melody? Peeling back the curtain to my own arranging process comes Songs on the Fly - our monthly chord melody arranging workshop on Patreon!

👩🏻‍🦱 Watch how a song comes together live and in real time on Zoom as we arrange a song for solo ukulele as a group! We’ll randomly select a song from our spinner wheel (song suggestions by Viggytopians on Patreon, of course) and from there we’ll talk all things ear training, chord voicings, and online tools like UkeBuddy and UltimateGuitar to find chords and new chord shapes to help us combine our melody with our chords.

🎶 No song is off the table! In previous workshops, we’ve done everything from video game music to Beyonce to Sam Cooke to ESPN sports themes. We decide where to place our melody notes, whether to strum more or fingerpick more, and learn what kinds of questions you’d ask yourself as a chord melody arranger.

😎 If it sounds a little out of your wheelhouse, that’s okay! It’s also fun to sit back and watch the process in real time. We don’t get through the whole song during the workshop, but you’ll have a nice chunk to practice afterwards and I encourage you to continue forth and keep arranging the rest!
