Updates from Viggy HQ ~ April '26 🌸

Hi friends! 👋🏻

April come she will, when streams are ripe and swelled with rain… ☔️ It’s a big month of travel for me as I start to kick off my ukulele festival travels - starting with Centrum Ukulele Week in just a few weeks! The festival is sold out, but you can get tickets to the evening concerts by clicking here for Friday tix and Saturday tix.

✈️ April/May Travels

After I return home, I have one day off before I head out again to the great state of Michigan for Mighty Uke Day! 💪🏻 I’ll be completing the Ben Hassenger grand slam of festivals (Ashokan Ukulele Festival, Midwest Uke Camp, Uketoberfest, and MUD) and I am very thankful for Ben for allowing me to get jiggy at his events. From MUD, I’ll make my way south to Akron, OH for a workshop/performance day with The Uke House / Rubber City Ukes! Join me for a fingerpicking workshop and jam afterwards in a fun and intimate setting. I cap off my May travels by heading to New Mexico for the Las Cruces Ukulele Festival! I’ve never been to New Mexico so I am really excited.

✈️ Summer Strummin’!

Once into June, I’ll be headlining the White Mountain Ukulele Retreat up in New Hampshire! As much as I love traveling, it’s also nice to stick to the East Coast. :) One of my biggest events of the year is on July 11th, where you can find me at the Bristol Ukulele Festival in the UK! I’ll be making my International debut and I couldn’t be more pumped. Norwich friends, keep your eyes peeled a few days after BUF for something special… You can also find me at the first ever Ukecation! festival in Kure Beach, NC at the end of July.

Our topic for this month's skills workshop will be strumming studies voted by you! I'll come up with a theme to tie these ideas together, but for now our topics will be creating strumming patterns by listening to the rhythm of a song, strumming & switching coordination, and more strummy stuff. Strengthen that right hand!

🍿 Vic’s Movie Corner

It’s movie time! I watched 15 movies in March, new releases and old. Here are some highlights:

Kiki’s Delivery Service 4K IMAX Remaster (1989) - Ugh, I love this movie so much. I’ve seen it before and had to catch it in theaters. It feels like a warm hug or a warm cup of soup on a snowy day. Just perfect!! (5/5 stars)

In The Mood for Love (2000) - My partner loves this movie and it was my first time seeing it! We caught it at our local arthouse theater and I thought it was gorgeous. Beautiful cinematography and just a great watch. (4.5/5 stars)

Project Hail Mary (2026) - I really liked it!!! I love Ryan Gosling though, so anything he’s in I’m usually a fan of. The Nice Guys from 2016 is one of my favorite movies, and I’d recommend that if you’re a Gosling head. Also, Crazy. Stupid, Love is a classic. But anyway, Project Hail Mary was really fun and I’m all for human/alien buddy cop themes in film. (4/5 stars)

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (2026) - I’m a huge fan of the first one, and I think this one fell a little short! This one felt like they were rushing in the beginning just to get to the part they know everyone wants to see, but Elijah Wood was in it so :) (2.5/5 stars)

The Mummy (2017) - Why did I watch this? Who knows. (1/5 stars)

Reminders of Him (2026) - Why did I watch this?? Who knows!! (1/5 stars)
